...another (and the last) shot from the top of Mt. Evans.... but I'll be back next month... it's a yearly must-drive... is that even a word? Hmm...
_____
The other day I decided to watch about 30 shows that I generally don't watch or have never seen and review them... having done One and Two Wednesday, we settle in for Number Three tonight...
Food Network seems to have a good idea.. rather than spend a lot of money on hiring famous folks or celebrity chefs to host new programs, they use a reality show format to "create" the "Next Food Network Star".... which gives them original programming and gets them a new "star" for probably pretty cheap I'm guessing...
I've been a Food Network watcher since way back, mainly because of the insanely entertaining program "Good Eats" hosted by television genius-at-large Alton Brown...
I think this may be the third version of the reality show, and the previous "winners" are fine and all, but I've never watched their shows...
After going through the first two episodes of this go-round it's clear to me that...
A) I don't know who the "Next Food Network Star" is going to be, but I won't be watching their show because I don't give a crap about any of them... which is sorta ironic because...
B) This is a really entertaining reality show without all the backbiting, insulting, degrading crap you have to sift through (Yes, I'm talking to you "The Bachelorette") on most "Kick One Person Out A Week Reality Shows" on TV today...
I'll watch every episode remaining of this series, but probably not ever watch the "winner's" program... so sort of a win-lose for Food Network....
TVGuy Rating (out of 100)
The Next Food Network Star: 72

After seeing episodes of the previous NFNS series I had concluded the term "star" was ironic (whether intentionally or not).
Much as I wish I had a clever remark about this, I can only say that I've reached the point with these shows where "it doesn't suck as hideously much as the other crap" doesn't warrant me spending time watching it.
Alton Brown developed his show before getting picked up by FN (sort of getting the kinks worked out in the minor leagues)--and he's wicked smart and funny--but if he merely won some competition I imagine he'd be unwatchable too.
But good luck to you as you continue on your quest.
